Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia sparked off a frenzy among the US media at the premiere of Independent Film Channel’s 3 part comedy TV series- Bollywood Hero, in New York; Dressed in black and brown gown, Dhupia made lensmen’s flashbulbs go pop constantly, even as she happily posed for them. The premiere of Bollywood Hero was held on 4th August at Rubin Museum of Arts, and accompanying the former Miss India were the film’s lead man Chris Kattan and co-star Pooja Kumar.Living up-to its tag line that says Chris Kattan goes to Bollywood to become a Bollywood star, this comedy venture utterly succeeded in drawing laughs from the invitees.
Neha plays a Bollywood actress Alima Lakhani, who meets Chris and has a roller-coaster experience with him in the series. A source close to Neha said, “Neha was warmly welcomed. She was pleasantly surprised that the premiere of Bollywood Hero, a television series, was as grand as the release of a big Hollywood film. Neha got a warm welcome at the Red Carpet, which overwhelmed her completely.”
Actress Neha Dhupia has bagged her first international assignment, a US TV show, which will see her sharing screen space with Hollywood A-listers like Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore.In the show Bollywood Hero, which spoofs the Mumbai based industry, Dhupia will play a demanding Bollywood star ‘Lalima’, who is more famous for the controversies surrounding her rather than her acting talent.The show, which has been shot in Mumbai and Los Angeles will have cameo appearances by Speed actor Keanu Reeves and Charlie’s Angels star Drew Barrymore.It’s spoofy and comical. It also has elements like how talent does not always get priority in showbiz. We shot in and around Mumbai. Cameos by Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore were shot in Los Angeles,” Dhupia said.
The mini-series also stars American comedy actor Kris Kattan. The story is about Kris wanting to come to India and star in a Bollywood movie with Neha.
“We shot in and around Mumbai. Cameos by Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore were shot in Los Angeles,” she said.”The series was shot in a very professional manner. Noorani is the line producer of Slumdog Millionaire. The crew did not throw any attitude. There was no time wasted,” she recalled.Neha said she will crossover to Hollywood only if she gets a good offer adding her hands were full in Bollywood.
On a visit to Pow (Prisoner of War) Camp in Vietnam, Neha Dhupia fainted when she learnt about the torture the people over there are meted. She was on a holiday trip to Vietnam and expressed her desire to visit the POW about which she had heard so much.
On visiting there and on listening to their stories of pain and suffering, Neha could not remain stable and she fainted. A friend of her confirmed the incident, “The truth was so bitter and harsh that Neha just could not digest it.
She just fainted on hearing the people’s gruesome stories. Neha was so disturbed by it that she just remained quiet throughout the day. Neha felt slightly better only the next day.”
