She starred in a number of unsuccessful films during 1992-1993 until Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s love saga 1942: A Love Story and Mani Ratnam’s Tamil drama Bombay and for the movie she got the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. Manisha was also seen in more commercial projects, like Mansoor Khan’s romantic musical film Akele Hum Akele Tum where ahe was casted opposite Aamir Khan. Manisha Koirala had a great successful year in 1996. She received good reviews for her performance in the drama Agni Sakshi where she was featured opposite Nana Patekar. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial debut, Khamoshi: The Musical also featured her alongwith Salman Khan. In 2001, she starred in the drama Grahan opposite Jackie Shroff.
Rajkumar Santoshi’s drama Lajja along with an ensemble cast that included Rekha, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit also starred Manisha. Overall, Manisha Koirala starred as the leading character in six high-budget, successful Tamil movies. In December 2009, the actress served as the Jury member in the fifth
edition of Dubai International Film Festival In 2010, she appeared in Partho Ghosh’s, Ek Second... Jo Zindagi Badal De?. Her forthcoming releases include Deepti Naval’s directorial debut, “Do Paise Ki Dhoop”, “Char Aane Ki Baarish” and Rohit Kaushik’s “Chehere” respectively.

Manisha Koirala’s marriage in trouble again?
The rift between actress Manisha Koirala and her Nepali businessman husband Samrat Dahal has apparently deepened even further!
Reportedly it has been over two months that Manisha has not returned to her husband and she is even seriously thinking of her re-entry in Bollywood as a film maker after the failure of her first Nepali film.
"Manisha has no plans to be a housewife. In fact, she is looking at establishing herself as a film maker even down South. So, it appears that Manisha will be flitting between Nepal and Mumbai for her work," a source said, adding that the actress has decided to give her troubled marriage a second chance after being advised by family and friends.
Manisha was recently spotted in Goa where her first Malayalam film Electra was screened, which she is keen to remake in Bollywood with a medium-sized budget.
MANISHA KOIRALA’S WEDDING plans
Manisha Koirala will marry Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal in Kathmandu on June 19th. The engagement will take place a day prior to that. Sources close to Manisha say that the wedding will be a very personal affair to which only close relatives and friends would be invited.
The venue for the reception is kept under wraps. Most probably the reception will be held in Mumbai in which the who’s who of Bollywood is expected to participate.
Manisha is currently starring in the Tamil film Maappillai, which has Dhanush in the lead role.

Accomplished Bharatnatyam and Manipuri dancer-actress Manisha Koirala (40), who has acted in a number of movies is likely to marry Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal on June 19.
The marriage rumours started spreading after popular Nepali director Dipendra Khanal, whose upcoming film Dharma is to mark the return of Manisha to Nepali films nearly two decades after she left Nepal to storm Bollywood, was quoted as saying: "Mutual acquaintances told me about a week ago that Manisha Koirala was getting married in Nepal."
The wedding will be a three-day extravaganza that is expected to see Mumbai’s stars descend on Kathmandu. The bridegroom was reportedly educated in the US and is a businessman. Manisha, grand-daughter of Nepal’s first elected Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, is presently shooting in Kerala for a Telugu film and will return to Kathmandu on Friday, he added.
Manisha Koirala debuts in Malayalam
Popular Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, who is currently making a comeback in Tamil as Dhanush’s arrogant mother-in-law in Maapillai after doing a number of mega hits like Bombay, Indian, Muthalvan and Baba, will be soon seen in Malayalam for the first time!
She makes her debut in Malayalam with noted art house Malayalam director Shyamaprasad's next film tentatively titled Electra in which she plays a very crucial role as Nayantara’s mother. Prakashraj plays Manisha's husband.
National award winning music director Ousepachan will score music. Starring Nishan of Shyam’s Ritu fame as the hero, Electra is based on a Greek play. It is produced by Vindhyan under the banner of Rasika Entertainments. The film will start rolling in April.
Manisha Koirala decided to settle down in her life
It seems Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has finally decided to settle down with the love of her life Christopher Doris. It is said that they are all set to tie the knot. The marriage proposal came up while they were in Paris for a four-month vacation.
Buzz up!Manisha has being going steady with Doris, who is a sports counselor, author and entrepreneur. She even quit Bollywood to spend time with her beau and get to know each other better. It is said that she has finally decided to call it a day.
The marriage is expected to be a private affair sans all the media attention. Only the families and close friends of the couple will be invited for the wedding ceremony.
The 39-year-old actress however rubbished off the rumours that she had secretly married Doris.
