Gayatri Joshi
a model turned actress was born on March 20, 1977 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Gayatri studied at the JB Vachha High School in Dadar in Central Mumbai and Mt. Carmel High School when she was in Nagpur.

She began her modeling career in 1996 while still in college and did ad campaigns for Bombay Dyeing, Philips, Ponds, Godrej, Sunsilk, LG as well as the Hyundai ad with Shahrukh Khan. She has also modeled for Seasons Catalogue and Calendar during 2001.

On 23 June 2005 Gayatri got engaged to Vikas Oberoi and they tied knot on 27 August 2005 in Mumbai. Mum to two kids Gayatri Joshi was one of the final five candidates in the 1999 Femina Miss India beauty pageant, and was crowned Sony Entertainment Channel's 'My Miss India' and she was also chosen to represent India at the 2000 Miss International event in Japan.

Gayatri made her Bollywood debut in December 2004 in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film Swades opposite Bollywood king Shahrukh Khan. The actress was praised immensely by the critics for her acting and performance.

In the year 2005 she bagged Bollywood Movie Awards for Best Female Debut, Star Screen Award Most Promising Newcomer - Female, Zee Cine Award Best Female Debut, and Global Indian Film Awards, Best Newcomer - all for her film Swades.

Praveen Babi


Parveen Babi who is most remembered for her glamourous roles in 1970s and early 80s in blockbusters films like Deewar, Namak Halaal, Amar Akbar Anthony and Shaan was born on April 4, 1949. The actress did her schooling from Aurangabad and later attended St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad for further studies.

Parveen was not married but it was also rumoured that she had a relationship with her co-star Amitabh Bachchan, Kabir Bedi, Danny Denzongpa and director Mahesh Bhatt.

One of the most successful Bollywood actresses in the 70s Praveen Babi made her film debut with 'Charitira', in 1973 while she was still in college.

In Manoj Kumar's big hit Kranti that came in 1981, Praveen stole scenes with her supporting role from Hema Malini, the actress of the film. Praveen Babi also acted in offbeat films like Vinod Pandey's Yeh Nazdeekiyan that was released in 1982.

Praveen left the film industry and moved to New York in 1983. Praveen Babi was found dead in her Mumbai apartment on 20 January 2005 as she suffered from gangrene of the foot as a complication of her diabetic condition.
