I am living my dream: Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood is on a professional high for a bit now and has plenty of reasons to smile. His powerful performance in last year's blockbuster Dabangg ensured that he found his niche in B-Town (after minor career blocks post his debut in Aashiq Banaya Aapne). After a nine month break from the screens, Sonu returns in a kick-ass role with Amitabh Bachchan in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap and can't stop gushing about his tryst with the super star. Like most actors of his generation, Sonu is full of praise for Bachchan Senior. "Working with Mr Bachchan was a phenomenal experience. Most actors would give anything to share screen space with him at some point in their careers. I'm glad I was among the privileged ones." This is also a year when Sonu's working with southern heavyweight Rajinikanth in Rana and veteran arthouse actor Naseeruddin Shah in a Bollywood flick titled Maximum.

Ask him why he hadn't gone on a signing spree after Dabangg, and Sonu modestly confesses, "I had four films to wrap up in Tollywood and then Bbuddhah... kept me busy. I have been literally shuttling between Mumbai and Hyderabad and Chennai all these months." For Sonu, as an actor, the priority is a "varied platter of films and roles" otherwise "it is no fun. I'd hate to be caught in an image trap."

Interestingly, Sonu has done more films down South and admits that he enjoys his southern stint. Sonu avers, "It is great fun doing southern films. I think T-Town is technologically very sound in terms of music and stunts as compared to Bollywood films. And, importantly, they are very organized—they are clear about the deadlines as well as timings and adhere to them."

With more and more sequels to successful films being made in Bollywood, Sonu's also gearing up for Dabangg 2. He says, "The script of the film is being written now and if things work out, we might start shooting for the film from February 2012. I am looking forward to the film a lot. I hope that the next few years are as eventful and good as 2010 was."

Sonu who's something of a fitness fanatic reveals that he is very "particular" about maintaining his physique and follows a "disciplined lifestyle, I keep a check on what I eat. So, wherever I travel, I maintain my diet and work out like anything. Besides I am also into adventure sports, so that helps burn calories."

Sonu recently, indulged himself by acquiring a new pair of hot wheels —a Harley Davidson bike. He grins, "Mr Bachchan suggested that it would be a great buy and since I've always been crazy about bikes right from my college days, I decided to go for one! I'm happy that I could fulfill a dream. I am glad professionally too, am living my dream," he says on a parting note.
