Ullal was born in Muscat, Oman to Indian immigrants parents of Devadiga community from Mangalore. She studied at Indian School Muscat and Indian School Salalah in Oman. Later she moved to Mumbai with her mother and attended Durelo Convent High School and later studied at MMK College. At college she befriended Arpita Khan, her college mate and the younger sister of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The friendship led to the chance meeting with Salman Khan and film offers.
