Born on November 1, 1973 in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh into a family educationists, Tisca Chopra, did her schooling in Delhi, where her father was principal of her school. Later she topped Hindu College, University of Delhi in English Literature, she also started working actively with amateur theatre in the college. While still at college, she started writing for several publications and also acting in plays for an amateur theatre group and college festivals. After finishing her education, she moved to Mumbai, and trained in acting with theatre gurus Feroz Abbas Khan and Nasseruddin Shah.
